The Jones Act was enacted to cover seamen and workers on a ship or vessel. The Jones Act is similar to Workers’ Compensation, except that unlike workers’ comp, you must be able to demonstrate that the employer, owner, fellow seaman, or a defect on the vessel or maritime equipment was at least partially at fault. That does not mean the employer (or others) must be more at fault than the injured seaman, it just means that the employer (or others) must have had something to do with the accident or injury.
